FALL/WINTER 2011 - Mt. Laurel Public Works is giving out 10 biodegradeable bags to each residence. The Township has a limited amount of biodegradable bags that it is giving to the residents. Residents must pick up the bags at the Public Works Bldg. The township will need to charge $2.oo for each additional 5 bags. If you use these bags please call the township immediately as the bags typically disinagrate after about 12 days.
For Normal Leaf Pickup/Collection - The township is divided into five sections for pickup. You should look for signs posted in your area as to when we will begin pickups.
Please look for Leaf Signs!
The week prior to your collection there will be signs placed through out in your neighborhood. Be on the lookout! Our signs indicate that we will be in your area the following week.
We complete one area before moving on to the next. Scheduling can be interrupted by bad weather.
Please call the Township's Department of Public Works for additional bagged leaf pickup 856-234-0001 ext 241
The Township of Mount Laurel Public Works Department will continue collecting the leaves with the following collection plan.
• Signs will be posted one week prior to the collection of leaves rather than having a scheduled date
• Leaves must be raked to the area between the curb and sidewalk by 7:00 am of the posted week
• Pursuant to the municipal storm water management regulations adopted by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, leaves may not be placed in the roadway or within ten (10') feet of a storm drain.
• Brush must not be mixed with the leaves
• Wet weather may delay the removal of leaves, however they will be picked up as soon as possible thereafter
• It is suggested, at this time, that residents begin using biodegradable leaf bags if bagging
• Please do not place bagged leaves with trash. Also, do not put loose leaves in waste receptacles. They will not be collected with your normal trash collection
• If residents are bagging leaves, Public Works must be called for collection. Phone number (856) 234-2070
Please be aware that the Pike Road Compost area will now only be open during the week from 8:00 am to 2:oo pm for those residents wanting to drop off leaves and brush.
Contractors will not be allowed to use this area for their debris.
If you are planning to drop off leaves or brush:
Residents should only bring leaves and brush to the Pike Road Complex.
The Public Works Department sincerely appreciates your cooperation with the
leaf collection process including the new requirements imposed by NJDEP.
