The Mount Laurel Municipal Alliance is funded by the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA). These funds are provided by Drug Enforcement Demand Reduction (DEDR) fines, which are collected from persons convicted of drug related offenses. The fines are used in the community for substance abuse prevention programs.
The Municipal Alliance Committee (MAC) is appointed by the Township's Governing Body from a broad range of community representatives, including education, law enforcement, and community groups.
The Committee determines the needs of the community and plans, coordinates, and conducts substance abuse prevention activities to benefit Mount Laurel Communities.
The Municipal Alliance Committee can not achieve its goals without the help of Volunteers. We need you! Volunteer work can range from representing the committee at various community events, helping set up and host various community activities, or helping to design this web site. There is always a need for volunteers and even a few hours of time is appreciated.
Wanted: Volunteers to Mentor Students in T.I.M.E. Program
Many people are not aware that there are hundreds of volunteers helping in our schools each day. Since 1990, some of the most valuable direct assistance has come from Project T.I.M.E. (Teach, Inspire, Mentor, Empower) volunteers. The program begun by Reverend Terrell Person matches adults with students for one hour of special time each week. Right now, 30 students are awaiting mentors in our schools, and your help is needed. If you have an hour a week to spare by having lunch and chatting, reading together, shooting some hoops or just listening, we need you!
